Once an asset is no longer required it either needs removing or decommissioning and managing.
Decommissioning
The definition of mothballing is to retain an asset indefinitely with no function or service. Although decommissioned assets often no longer need to be fit for the original purpose they may pose a risk to third parties. Therefore decommissioned assets may still require examining and maintaining.
Pole Star can be used for all data management about decommissioned assets using the same features and functions in construction, assessment and evaluation.
Removal
Removing an asset requires similar processes and procedures to construction. The project management part of the system can be utilised as well as the data capture. Once the asset has been removed the complete life cycle can be stored and archived in Pole Star.
