The rail industry responds to many incidents across the rail network which affects performance. These delays can carry significant financial penalties. A number of performance related issues are attributed to flooding. The drainage department decided to visualise their flooding sites on a digital map with all performce scores so they could target the high risk sites.

Pole Star was used to populate a digital map identyfying the flooding sites with all delay minutes. These were then used to work out the financial implications of the delays against the cost to repair to create a strategic work bank. This allow the drainage manager to put a convincing case forward to seek appropriate funding and reduce the departments associated delays.
